BUSAN | DAY 02

-warm food-

We started our second day in Busan with some warm to fight the cold for the rest of the day. Not far away from our Airbnb is a Pork and Rice Soup (돼지국밥) place called DAE-GEON MYEONG-GA (대건명가 돼지국밥).

We went with the regular Pork and Rice Soup (따로돼지국밥) (6,500₩) and the Spicy Buckwheat Noodles (메밀비빔막국수). We were there at the right time to get the noodles because they only serve the noodles from 10 am to 9 pm.

The white color of the soup comes from boiling either pork or beef bones for a really long time. Many rice soup restaurants add milk to make the broth white. To buy trust from the customers, this restaurant puts up a sign that if you find that they add milk to the soup, they will pay you one hundred million won — that’s why they have CCTVs inside.

I was never a fan of bone broth soup because I think it’s too bland, but this place really opened my eyes. The soup was really rich, and I think that’s why I never really liked the soup I got at other places before.

They give you some salt and red pepper to season the soup according to your preference which is a very common thing to do in many Asian countries. It’s not considered as an insult to the cook or anything. I added some salt and a lot of pepper (of course), and that's how the white soup became red in an instance. It was so good that I didn’t leave any single drop of the soup left in the bowl.

The Spicy Buckwheat Noodles (메밀비빔막국수) was okay. I wouldn’t expect a restaurant known for one dish to be good at making all the dishes anyway.
