SEOUL | DAY 02

-JEREMIAH PRAYER MEETING-

Tae took me to a church called Young Nak Presbyterian Church in Myeong Dong area for Jeremiah Prayer Meeting. The prayer meeting is hosted by New Philly church on the third Saturday of every month (Click here for JPM facebook page). The meeting is open to all English-speaking churches to come and pray for the revival of Korea (not just the South or the North, but Korea).

The prayer meeting was very powerful. Pastor Leo Rhee, the speaker, gave a sermon on Matthew 25:1-13. He talked about how to keep the fire for God alive. In order to do that, we need oil to the fire burning, and the oil is kept in the place of intimacy between God and us. I don't remember ow many times I have heard of missionaries feeling burned out because they were trying to do everything for God but by themselves. In the past two semesters, I co-led a bible study group in Cornerstone Christian Fellowship or CCF, a college Christian fellowship at Virginia Tech. One of the most important things that I learned was that I cannot serve God without God. It sounds stupid, but, surprisingly, a lot of people, including me, fall into the track of trying to do everything by themselves. If everything can be done like that without God, why do we need Him after all? Without relying on God, we are just doing humanitarian missions, not the gospel-proclaiming missions.

The meeting ended with worship that was really powerful. One of the songs we sang was 'Spirit Break Out' which was in English, but there was a part that we sang in Korean (click here for the Korean version of the song), and it just me chills but moved my heart significantly. God really loves His people, and His heart is broken for the Koreans - I could feel it. Even though the countries are both broken, the revival is coming soon - I can feel it.

Afterward, we just hangout a little bit, and I got to talk to some new people making some new friends. Some of them were either from Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech too!! It's pretty cool talking to Virginia Tech alums in Korea. #LetsGoHokies

Tae and I then left to walk in Myeong Dong a little bit. Honestly, I'm not going to make a separate section for Myeong Dong since I wasn't impressed by it at all. It looked like a tourist trap to me, and it was crowded and full of tourists. The place gave me an uncomfortably overwhelming feeling to me.

Anyways, today was another great day. I love what God has revealed to me - I love it all.
