BUSAN | DAY 02

-seafood-

After the engagement, we came to Kwan-an-ri Beach (관안리). Some of my friends from GLDI live in Busan, so I wanted to see them a bit, and it worked out because my friend and her now fiancé could get their own dinner.

I met my Busan friends at the train station and walked together to across the beach to Minlak Raw Fish Market. There were some interesting wall paintings almost everywhere here.

The beach is gorgeous, especially when the sun was setting, and it wasn’t that cold or windy either. My friends and I went to the raw fish market. We went inside the market to one of the many fish shops and asked the owner to get one of the fish for us from the tank. They told us to go wait while they’re preparing the fish for us. The owner gave us their own wasabi, saying that it’s better than what they give us at the store.

My friends taught me some Busan dialect because I think guys with Busan dialect seem more manly than the guys with regular Seoul dialect. For example:

English: Did you eat?

Seoul: 밥 먹었어?

Busan: 밥 뭇나?

If you want to learn more about different dialects, I suggest watching this video for Daegu and Busan dialects. I couldn't really tell the difference, but they both sound cooler than Seoul dialect #lol

On the way to the shop, we stopped by the sweet dried fish place and got my favorite snack called Jipo (쥐포). It's the circular disc like thing in the background. The ahjumma gave me some sweet snack as a treat. It was interesting, but I will just take the Jipo.

We walked out of the market to the restaurant near by to wait for the fish. In Japan, they eat raw fish with either wasabi or soy sauce, but in Korea, they also eat raw fish or Hwe (회) with the red sauce made with red pepper paste and vinegar. The sauce is pretty similar to American cocktail sauce. Everything was so good. I loved it!

-BYE-

Tae and I decided to meet at the KTX station, and my friends came together to send me off. They all treated me when I was the oldest person there... #grateful

It’s so funny that the train coming to Busan was packed, but there was no on the train back to Seoul. After several stations, one guy got on the plane, and out of all the empty seats, he got seated right next to me. Other than that, it was a nice ride back to Seoul.
