SEOUL | DAY 01

-sunday-

Tae and I took the train to church in Silim and grabbed some Walnut and Peanut Cake (호두&땅콩과자) on the way to the train station. Warm snacks are just so good for this kind of freezing cold weather.

I got to sit in during the Korean service for a bit during the time of praise. The church we went to was an English speaking church, but it was inside a Korean church. It was amazing to hear people praise God in Korean. Singing along with them and looking around the sanctuary was really encouraging. Even though missionaries have arrived in Korea centuries ago, the gospel didn’t spread like wildfire until the peninsula was under Japanese oppression. Only when it’s dark, we learn to seek the true light.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thess 5:16-18a)

-HANBOK-

After church, another friend from GLDI, Susan and I went to Samcheong-dong (삼청동). We initially wanted to wear Hanbok (Korean traditional dress) and take some pictures inside Gyeong-bok Palace, but we didn’t arrive in time.

We rented the dresses from a shop in Samcheong-dong and took the bus to Deok-su Palace (덕수궁). Yes, we took the bus, and we looked like some palace maids who had time-traveled from centuries ago.

-DEOKSU PALACE-

Deok-su Palace (덕수궁) at night was really pretty, but I was really new to my camera at the time, so I couldn’t really get decent pictures. It was freezing cold too. It would be better to come here during the day for better lightning (of course!) and warmer weather.
