BUSAN | DAY 02
- village -
Today, I had a mission to accomplish, and my friend Tae didn’t know about it. Before coming to Korea, this one random guy messaged me on facebook. Normally, I don’t even bother reading a message from a stranger, but his name sounded familiar so I decided to read what he sent. It turned out that the guy was Tae’s boyfriend who was planning to propose to my friend. This second day in Busan had become one of the days that I will never forget. I changed his name on Katalk to some girl’s name, and whenever he messaged me, he would start with some random stuff, so that Tae would not suspect when she sees the message preview on my phone.
After filling our stomach up with the Pork and Rice Soup, we were ready to go to the next stop — Gamcheon Culture Village (감천문화마을). Aaron, Tae’s boyfriend, was thinking about proposing to her at Gamcheon Culture Village, but he couldn’t find a good spot, so he went ahead to Igidae Park (이기대공원) to wait for us there. I recommend either taking the bus or taxi to the village unless you want to do some morning exercise and walk the steep hill.
There is a tourist information center at the front entrance, so you can go grab a map (available in English, Korean, Chinese and Japanese) and start walking around from there. Let go of your pride and don't be afraid to act like a tourist carrying the map around here, trust me, you need one because this place is a maze.

Gamcheon Culture Village is a good place to walk around and take pictures. It could up to 2-3 hours if you really take your time. There was no specific place that we wanted to go, so we just kept walking and checking different places out.
It was an art project that turned this village into a tourist spot. Wherever you walk to, there will be some painting on the walls for you to take pictures and appreciate the artistic skills. There were some foreigners here, but there was also a good amount to Korean tourists as well — so it’s not a tourist trap.

To get a good and quiet view of the village, buying a cup of coffee will give you a free pass to that. We went there pretty early, so the only customers there were just us two.
